Helping Australia’s top employers hire emerging talent

When I joined, we were working to reposition the product from a basic applicant tracking system to a two-sided talent marketplace. But we faced a critical challenge: while employers were signing up and posting roles, many quickly reverted to their usual hiring tools, leading to poor retention. Our hypothesis was that by better supporting the full end-to-end hiring journey, we could deliver stronger outcomes for employers and drive higher engagement from candidates.
As the only product designer in the team, I worked closely with founders on key initiatives; Increasing activation rates for first-time users, adding personalisation across discovery surfaces, redesigning candidate profiles and application flows, and building collaborative tools to help employers review and hire candidates with more confidence.
In late 2023 (after I moved on), Hatch was able to close an oversubscribed seed round to fuel their next phase of growth.
